Welcome to Little Ilford School
It is a privilege to welcome you to Little Ilford School. Having served this community for over five years as Deputy Headteacher and now leading the school as interim Headteacher, I am immensely proud of our dedicated staff, our vibrant community, and—above all—our students.
Little Ilford is an inclusive, values-driven school with a clear purpose. We offer a well-balanced, ambitious curriculum paired with a rich extra-curricular programme, encouraging every student to embody our core values of Courage, Commitment, and Compassion. We set high expectations and challenge our students every day to take ownership of their learning, strive to be better today than they were yesterday, and realise their unique potential.
As a Leading Edge school, we invest continuously in the professional development of our staff. This ensures we deliver high-quality teaching within a safe, supportive, and structured environment where every child can flourish.
Whether you are a current family, a prospective parent/carer, or a visitor, we hope our website gives you a clear sense of our culture and aspirations. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to find out more.

The Story Behind Our Logo
The scholar at the heart of the Little Ilford School logo is Thomas Heron, the eldest son of Sir John Heron—Private Treasurer to Henry VIII and Lord of the Manor of Aldersbrook.
Our school badge features a drawing of Thomas adapted from a 500-year-old brass memorial located at St Mary’s Church in our local community. Hanging from his belt are an inkhorn and pencase, signalling his status as a scholar. As one of only three surviving Tudor brasses of its kind in the entire United Kingdom, Thomas Heron’s memorial represents a remarkable local legacy—one that our students wear with pride every day.
